Arlene Benson (Dillard), a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born on May 18, 1938, in Lonoke County, Arkansas, to the late James Lee Dillard and Savanah Baker. She resided in Julian, North Carolina with her Daughter for the past 23 years.
Arlene was a woman of many talents and interests. She had a green thumb and found solace in her garden, tending to her flowers and plants with great care. Additionally, she had a passion for sewing and was skilled in creating beautiful garments and crafts. Arlene also enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, preserving the bounty of nature’s harvest.
Arlene’s educational journey began at Cabot High School, where she demonstrated her dedication to learning. This milestone marked the beginning of a life filled with cherished memories and remarkable experiences.
In 1980, Arlene married the love of her life, Robert Lee Benson, and together they built a life centered around love, family, and shared values.
She had three daughters and two sons, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that will be forever treasured. In addition to her immediate family, Arlene leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Lee Benson, as well as her parents, James Lee Dillard and Savanah Baker. She was also preceded in death by eleven siblings, who now join her in eternal peace.
May her soul find eternal rest, and may her family find comfort in the beautiful memories they shared with her.
