Chardarnay Alexandria Shaw Simms, 33, went to live with Jesus on Monday, September 4, 2023 after a terminal illness. She was a Christian, beloved mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend.
Chardarnay, the youngest of three children, was born on December 29, 1989 to Alexander and Phyllis Shaw in Meriden, Connecticut. She was educated through the Hoke County School System in Raeford, North Carolina.
Known for her exceptional photographic memory ability and artistic talent, Chardarnay could effortlessly recite the Holy Bible and sketch a picture of any object or character. Her favorite cartoon character was Tweety Bird. She loved Tweety Bird because he was her favorite color (yellow), small, and could always outsmart the cat, Sylvester. She was also known for her infectious “bubbly”, loving and giving personality.
Chardarnay was predeceased by her Grandparents, Charles and Rebecca Shaw, Uncle Willie Shaw, Aunts Georgia Shaw, Louise Shaw Melvin and Virginia Shaw Robinson.
She is survived by Daughter Jah’Toria Anita Johnnae Simms, Son, Philip Eugene Simms, Jr., Father, Sandy Alexander Shaw, II, Mother Phyllis Anita Locke Shaw, Brother. Lamar Allen, Sister, Shana Shaw Jackson (Kenzie), Grandparents, Arnold Locke (Delores), Cynthia Staton-James (Elder Henry James), Aunts Sharon Locke, Bessie Shaw Smith, Cicely Little, Uncles Andreus Locke, Arnold Locke, Jr. and Joseph Shaw; a host of grandaunts, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Chardarnay will be DEEPLY missed by all who knew her. The family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life and not the sadness of her passing. Love you baby girl!
The family will be having a private memorial/celebration of life on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 1 P.M.
The family wishes to thank Baptist Hospital’s entire staff for the outstanding care you provided to Chardarnay during her illness. Also we extend our sincere thank you to Triad Cremation & Funeral Service for their professional yet compassionate services during this difficult time.
