WINSTON-SALEM – Clarence Boston, 81, of 1431 Thurmond Street in Winston Salem, North Carolina passed away February 8, 2014. He was born in Vivian, West Virginia, September 19, 1932, the son of George and Francis Boston. He graduated from Happy Plains High School Taylorsville, North Carolina in 1950. He then moved to Winston Salem where he spent a portion of his life before moving to New York. After a long stay in New York, Clarence retired from NY City Transit Authority and moved back to Winston Salem, where he opened "Just for You Women's Fashions". He also served as Chairman of the Board for The Boston Dynasty, a conglomerate of seven businesses. He attended St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Trustee Board before becoming the church treasurer. He was also a member of the Senior Usher Board and Finance Committee. Later he joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church until he became ill and could no longer attend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Francis Boston, two brothers Floyd and Jerry Boston, sister, Pauline Washington and a son, Darryl Keith Boston. Clarence is survived by loving wife, Darinda G. Boston, son Michael Anthony Boston, Sr. (Anita), grandsons Michael Boston Jr. (Monika), Clarence Javon Boston (Donnica), granddaughter, Aisha Melvine Boston, Great Grandchildren, Britian, Jalen, Gabby, Emory and King, two sisters, Eva Howell and Cleta Wilson (Richard),a sister in law Oarstine Boston, an Aunt, Willie Mae Perry of Taylorsville, NC, many nieces , nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2014 at New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Winston Salem, NC. Visitation 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. He may be viewed Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Russell's Funeral Home, Winston-Salem. Funeral services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.
