Obituary

Daniel Andrew Cowett, 52, beloved husband and best friend of Bonnie Cummings-Chase Cowett, left this world on March 16,, 2014. Danny was a 1980 graduate of Page High School and attended Greensboro College.  He was a talented custom home builder/contractor and musician. While passionate about his work, Dan’s real passion was in sharing excellent adventures with family and friends. Some of his excellent adventures included the decades he spent as keyboardist and vocalist with his band, The Other Mothers, sailing expeditions, scuba diving and playing with his seven grandchildren and nieces and nephews, all of whom could feel his joy and love.

Dan has joined his beloved daughter Victoria, father Everett and nephew Alex in Heaven. Dan’s memory will be honored by his wife Bonnie, step-son Joey, mother Valentina, brothers; Al, Tom, John and sister Martha, sister in-laws; other brothers, Randall and Stephen and many other friends, cousins, aunts, uncles and in-laws.

A celebration of “Cool Man Dan’s” Awesomeness will be held on Saturday, March 22, at Bur-Mill Park at 12 noon.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Support Fund, Office of Fund Development, Cone Health, 1200 N. Elm St, Greensboro, 27401.

Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.

Daniel was a fellow musician whom I admired very much, as one of the most graceful men...not just when everything was good either, I especially saw this during his time of strife and struggles. I am very sorry to hear he is gone from our sighted world, but rest assured he will be remembered for the talent he so generously shared, and for his courage -My deepest sympathy, peace, love and prayers for strength, for Bonnie, and the family and friends of a remarkable straight up guy-

I was very sorry to hear about Dan.  His service today was inspiring.  He had many friends who obviously loved him dearly.  I didn't know Dan well, but I know he was a good man.  He built my home and took great pleasure when I told him how much I loved living in it.  He was proud of his work and very helpful throughout the process.  I hope you find strength in knowing he was so highly thought of by all.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of Dan today.I was not a close friend, but became aquainted with him from being a Hugh fan of the band. He and the other, other mothers were and are great talented guys in the greatest ( if underrated ) band from n.c. We had many good times back in the day, but I had lost touch with them lately. Dans life shone brightly, but was doused too soon. R.i.p. dan

    Holly Cato Farr says:
Looking back at my childhood days spent at the Cowett sanctuary, the warmth and loving appreciation of that time will forever remain with me. Dan's quick wit and saucy smile broke me up numerous times, brightened all our days, even unto the darkest recesses, and gave hope for a brighter tomorrow. He always had a smile in his heart and everyone who met him could see it's brilliance shine forth. He was a wonderful person. Bonnie and family, he will be sorely missed by you, I know. But because he was the person he was, before you is a very large extended family you can call on if and when you need something. You are all in my thoughts and prayers and I am sorry for the feelings of loss you are experiencing. Please don't hesitate to call on me if I can be of any assistance or comfort, now or in the future. Namasté.

"If a man dies, can he again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service Until my relief comes. You will call and I will answer you, You will long for the work of your hands."   (Job 14:14,15) Death is an interruption of the life that God purposed for mankind. We look to the very near future when He will remove sin and death and accomplish his purpose for the earth.  (Revelation 21:4,5)
