Obituary

Dolly Sharp, a beloved member of the community, peacefully passed away on June 24, 2023, at Kate B Reynolds Hospice House. She was born on August 18, 1950, in Kinston County to James Norwood Brown and Dallas Watson.

Dolly was a North East High School graduate with a passion for reading and writing poems. Her love for God led her to be a member of Genesis Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC, where she also sang in the choir.

Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years, Steven Sharp, and her sister Jean Hill. She will always be remembered and cherished by her children, Brenda Sharp (Dan Brooks), Derwayne Sharp, James Sharp, and Peggy Richardson (Bobby), as well as her brother James R. Brown, sisters Deborah New and Donna Jo, and her grandchildren: Robert Sharp, Justin Black, Michael Black, Melissa Sharp, Christopher Joyce, John Richardson, and Christy Richardson. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Dolly will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Although gone from this earth, Dolly’s memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A Funeral Service will be held at Triad Cremation & Funeral Service on Monday, July 3rd, 2023 Visitation for Mrs. Sharp will be held at noon followed by a funeral service at 1 PM. Mrs. Sharp will be laid to rest at Guilford Memorial Park.
