Greensboro- Donna Marie Crawford, 60, was born on September 22, 1962 to the union of James Herman Crawford Sr. and Delores Phillips Crawford in St. Claire County East St. Louis, Illinois.
A visitation will be held from 9-10am on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Triad Cremation and Funeral Service, 2110 Servomation Rd, Greensboro, NC 27407; with a funeral service to follow after at 10:00am. Burial will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro, NC immediately following services. Repass will be held at The Craft Center, 3911 Yanceyville St. Greensboro, NC 27405.
Donna received her formal education in the Lovejoy Public School System in Brooklyn, Illinois, and graduated in 1981. She attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale in Carbondale, Illinois. Due to her love for working with at-risk youth, Donna furthered her education at Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, NC where she received an associate degree in criminal justice. Her desire was to make a positive impact.
Donna was a devoted singer for the Sunshine Band at Lovejoy Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Elder William L. Turner. Upon relocating to Greensboro NC, Donna professed her faith in Christ during her Recovery with the women of God Did It, founded by Pastor Ron Harris. She has since been a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. Donna attended First Church of Our God Jesus Christ under the leadership of Pastor Bakari Lodge. She served her community with all of her heart. Her passion for cooking and her generous nature motivated her conviction to feed the homeless and anyone who needed a hot meal. Donna was truly a lover of God’s people.
Donna was a devoted Mother and Grandmother to her son Christopher Omoti, Jakita Omoti and Eva Omoti. The union of Christopher and Jakita was of the utter most importance to Donna and the birth of Eva, her precious granddaughter, was the most cherished part of Donna’s life. She was equally devoted to her family and in particular her nieces and nephews.
Donna was a devoted worker as a private duty Nurses Assistant for various family throughout the region. She was also a trained Dialysis Technician both in Las Vegas NV and in Greensboro North Carolina. In her leisure time, she enjoyed fishing at any body of water, going to the beach, and swimming. She had a passion for singing and deep down thought she was a country gospel singer.
Donna was a great supporter of many organizations both financially and spiritually. She offered her talents and services to the Women of God Did It, and was faithful and cheerful giver to her family’s organization Forever Hope Agency NFP 501(c)(3).
Donna departed this life on July 31st 2023. Donna is preceded in death by her Father James Herman Crawford Sr., Her Mother Delores Crawford, Her Sister Mary Elizabeth Crawford, Her Brother James Herman Crawford Jr., Her Brother Rodney Crawford, and Her Brother Darryl Crawford.
Donna leaves to cherish her memory her Son Christopher(Jakita) Omoti, Grand Child Eva Omoti, Brother Stanley Erwin Crawford, Brother Marshall Crawford (Patricia) Crawford, Sister Ava(Reginald) Denise Crawford Adams, Brother Anthony Rochon Crawford, Sister Tracy(Donald) Renee Crawford Kincaide, Brother Deverrick Crawford, Brother Marcus(Nicole) Crawford, Brother Darwin Demond Crawford, Aunt Theresa(Eugene) Williams, Uncle Johnny Banks, Aunt Margert Crawford, Godmother Vera Johnson, a host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins, and Special Cousin Yvette Buchanan, God Sister Yulonda Latham, Special Friends Daisy Mosley, Emma Verdin, Oti Awere, Daphne Walker, Cassandra Paulette and Lily Finley and Family.
