Obituary

Franklin McNairy (Mac) Bowman

Franklin McNairy (Mac) Bowman, 80, of Browns Summit NC, went home to be with Jesus on March 25, 2014, at home surrounded by family.

Mac was born on November 12, 1933 in Browns Summit to the late Walter O. Bowman and Bertha B. Bowman. Mac is survived by his wife Shirley Bowman of the home; his son, Joe Franklin and  wife Tonya, daughter, Rachel Goff and husband Forrest; granddaughter Amber Chandler and husband Dale; and great granddaughter Kyleigh, all of Browns Summit; brother Bill and sister Doris. Mac was preceded in death by siblings, Obie, Dorothy, Harry, Howard, Ruth and Nancy.

Mac was a great provider for his wife Shirley of 59 years and their children Franklin and Rachel. His passions were farming, singing praises to the Lord, and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Mac served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958 where he spent most of his active duty overseas in Korea.

The family would like to thank Hospice and Pallative Care of Greensboro for their ongoing care and support for Mac and family during his illness.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mac’s memory to Reedy Fork Community Church’s Building Fund at P.O. Box 615 Browns Summit, NC 27214. No services are planned at this time, however, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

    Gloria Mahaffey says:
We have lost a dear friend & fellow musician in Mac Bowman. He will long be remembered by his church family as a faithful friend, and servant of God. He was a wonderful singer. He didn't care how he sang, as long as he was able to sing. It was my pleasure to accompany Mac many times. We know he is singing today with God's Angels. Our deepest sympathy. Your family is in our prayers.
