Obituary

GREENSBORO- FRANKLIN DOUGLAS DUEL, 72, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2015, at Moses Cone Hospital. Doug was born in Cleveland, OH on July 9, 1942. His family moved to the country, Newbury, OH, when he was young and there he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and playing football. After high school he went to Chicago where he learned to be an electrician, then moved back to OH where he met his second wife, Marilyn. They moved to NC in 1982 hoping to find warmer weather and prosperity. They found that and many good friends, too. Doug was a smart, hard-working man. He could build and repair almost anything. If he did it, you could be sure it was done right and would last. He retired from AC Corp in 2009.

He leaves behind family and friends who loved him dearly and will surely miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Reta, sister Mary, nephews Mike and Steve, and 1st wife Nancy. His survivors include, sisters Dorothy and Joan, wife Marilyn, children Chris, Jeff, Sandra, Will, and Justin, grandchildren Trent, Malcolm, William, and Bella, nieces and nephews Marjorie, Barb, Jim, Leslie, Gary, David, Ron, and Chuck. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Moses Cone Surgical ICU for their vigilant and professional care. The family held a private memorial at their home. Doug was a very kind man  and it saddens me for your loss.  I just now heard about this. Knowing Doug for just a short time but each time I met him you could see the love he had for his family.  I am so sorry.

    Gina Duel says:
The memories are plenty and met with a smile, We are blessed to have had you in our lives for a while.   Your infamous letters..., your smile, phone calls, zest for life, your unassuming nature and pursuit of continued knowledge....  I wonder if you really knew how many lives you've touched around you.  Though you are gone in body your spirit lives on within each one of us. So, until we meet again...., May you always have work for you hands to do. May your pockets always hold a coin or two. May the sun shine bright on your windowpane. May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain. May the hand of friend always be near you. And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you. Ciao Ciao my friend!

    Lola Gianelli says:
I will miss Doug.  He would call me while on his fishing boat.  We would talk for a long time and reflect about life.  He was a gentle man.  Whenever his Italian friends from Italy visited him, he would call me and have me speak to them in Italian. Doug and Marilyn had invited me to join them on their trip to Italy and I have always regretted that I didn't go.  Doug is my son-in-law Will's father and Bella's grandpa.  I had the privilege of venturing from Wyoming and staying at Doug's house and also his summer home.  I will pray for the Repose of his Soul in Heaven.  God Bless Doug.
