Obituary

JAMESTOWN —  James “Buddy” Lewis Scott, 80, of Jamestown, joined his heavenly savior September 29, 2014 at Hospice Home of High Point.

          Mr. Scott was born July 20, 1934, in Forsyth County to the late Cabble D. Scott and Beulah Ashby Scott.

Mr. Scott was a Staff Sergeant Air Force veteran, and retired after 38 years at Western Electric, in Winston-Salem, Kwajalein Island, and Langdon, North Dakota, while working on the anti-ballistic missile systems which were operated by the U.S. Army.

          He served as exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge of High Point, served as president and ambassador at the High Point Shrine Club, and spent three years devoted to service by transporting children with illnesses to the Shriners Hospitals in Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Greenville.

          Mr. Scott was preceded in death by a son Kerry Lee Scott, and a sister Barbara Tuttle.

          He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Betty Hauser Scott. He is survived by a sister, Betty Hinkle of Welcome; daughters and sons-in-law, Monica and Lee Collins of Mount Airy, Tina Warfford of Winston-Salem, Jeannie and Greg Derrow of High Point, Bibi Hannah of Mooresville; sons and daughters-in-law, Dereck Scott of Walnut Cove and James “Jimmy” and Dawn Scott of Lewisville; eight grandchildren, Brandon Collins, Deidra Scott, Haley and Brookelyn Scott, Chloe and Jacob Warfford, Jordan and Lyndsey Derrow; and a great-grandchild, Logan Derrow; special sisters-in-law, Mary Hutchins and Sara Clements; and brother-in-law, Robert Hauser; as well as many nieces, and cousins.

            The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct 2, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Country Club Road in Winston-Salem, with a celebration of life immediately afterward at 1:30 p.m. with the Pastor Gary Byrum officiating.

             In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children, PO Box 31356, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607or the American Cancer Society. Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.
