Obituary

James R. (Ronnie) Gray, 70, passed away peacefully at home on May 12th, 2023, after a long battle with Ataxia. 

He was born in Guilford County, NC, to Irene Gray and the late James Gray on July 26, 1952.

On September 25, 1987, he married the love of his life, Charlene Rushing Gray. Ronnie served his country and joined the National Guard. After retiring, he ran his own lawncare business for over 30 years. His favorite hobbies were both hunting and fishing. He was a great son, brother, father, Pop Pop, and friend! Ronnie was a member of Crossover Community Church in High Point and served faithfully as a teacher, deacon, usher, and any other way he could. 

Ronnie is survived by his wife Charlene; his children, Amanda Shaw (Mike), Travis Baker (Christine); his mother Irene Gray; his sister Shirley Freeman (Bill); an adopted son Don Rushing; his grandchildren Savannah Canham (Matthew), Joshua DeHart, Chandler DeHart, Callen Baker, Sutton Baker, Harrison Shaw; great-grandchildren Aria Canham, Adalie Canham, Anakin Canham; and his nephew Andrew Freeman (Kristen).

A celebration of life will be held at Crossover Community Church, 712 Knightdale Ave, High Point, NC, 27263, on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 am and service immediately following the visitation.
