DRIVER, JOHN L. Age 82, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015. John joined United States Steel in 1955 and enjoyed a quintessential American career. He was respected throughout the company until Parkinson's Disease forced his retirement in the 90s. John was married to Jane D. Driver in 1956 and they moved to Pittsburgh, PA in 1965. The marriage lasted 19 years and produced a daughter and four sons. In 1978, John married Luanne Bryant Matchett, a counselor and educator from Pittsburgh. They were residents of Shadyside, active members of Calvary Episcopal Church and participants in The Pittsburgh Experiment, an interdenominational ministry to the business community.

John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Luanne Bryant Matchett Driver; five children, three stepchildren; and 16 grandchildren. John's children are Lucinda Driver Hammond, of Pittsburgh, PA, William Driver of Redding, CA, David Driver of Fairfax, CA, James Driver of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert Driver of Charlotte, NC; John's stepchildren are Stephen Matchett of Philadelphia, PA, Laura Matchett Shaw of Detroit, MI and David Moore of Akron, OH.

A Celebration of his life will be held at the May-Foley Chapel at Twin Lakes Community, Burlington, NC on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 4 p.m., with reception following.
