Louise H. "Tomil" Caranna, 86, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014, in
Greensboro, N.C.
Born in Imboden, Ark., Ms. Caranna earned a B.A. in psychology and loved to travel. An accomplished pianist and avid reader, Ms. Caranna wrote columns for the Clearwater Sun and Tampa Tribune, and was in the process of writing a novel.
Her love and unfettered kindness left its imprint on loved ones and strangers alike. She cherished animals, especially cats, and relished her "Cat Lady" title.
She was preceded in death by her son, Burt, and former husband, Leonard. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Hedrick of Imboden and residing in Louisiana; daughters, Michelle of Dunedin, Fla.; and Kenwyn of Belews Creek,
N.C.; adopted daughter, Stacy Baer of Houston; Texas; special friends Amy Bass and Marsha Jarrell; and her cat, Moxie.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Holobaugh Cemetery, Imboden, Ark. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to D.E.L.T.A. Rescue or Susie's Fund at Guilford County (N.C.) Animal Shelter.
