Obituary

Margaret Lou Birt Cleaton passed away peacefully and pain-free on July 2nd, 2023. After bravely fighting numerous illnesses and medical problems, she finally succumbed. Born on July 12th, 1949 and raised in Bridgewater, Virginia she earned her degree in Business Administration from Bridgewater College. Margaret lived and worked for a short time in Richmond, Virginia before she and her husband relocated to Greensboro, NC. She worked for the City of Greensboro’s Community Development Department for over 40 years. She was a model employee, assisting multiple Department heads as well as Boards and Commissions members. Known for her timely and accurate work, she was always in high demand.
She is survived by her best friend and Husband and companion for over 40 years, Lindsay Willett of Greensboro; Son Preston (Trey) Cleaton III & Wife Tiffany Lynn Cleaton; Grandsons Evan Preston Cleaton & Jacob Alan Cleaton and Step-granddaughter Ashlynn Marie Cole all of Sophia, NC.
Stepson Ned Willett & Wife Tayti Taylor; Step-granddaughter Taylor Willett; Step grandson Nate Willett all of Havelock, NC.
Sister Karen Weiss & Husband Jack and two nephews of Virginia. Brother Jessie Birt (Deceased Veteran) & his Wife Jennie and one niece in San Antonio, TX.
Best friends Linda Jones & Judy Decker, whom she spent numerous get-togethers and outings with, hold a dear place in Margarets heart.

A memorial service will be held 4 PM Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Triad Cremation & Funeral Service, 2110 Servomation Road, Greensboro, NC 27407. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
