Mary Edith Millhollan, 95, born June 27, 1919 passed away Sunday,Oct. 19, 2014, in Winston Salem.
Mary, or as everyone called her later in life, “Mama”, was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She met her husband of 49 years, William Wallace Millhollan, III there as well. She was a home maker most of her life. She enjoyed the outdoor life including camping, fishing and hunting. She was an avid quilter and crafter and won many blue ribbons at fairs across the country. Later in life she was a dedicated caregiver to the elderly and Alzheimer patients.
Survived by daughter, Mary Alice and husband Paul of Winston Salem; grandchildren John of Winston Salem, Mary Beth and husband Tom of High Point, Matt and wife Tara of Missouri; great-grandchildren Arjay, Angela and Brooklyn; and loyal dog Dixie.
Mary Edith is preceded in death by husband of 49 years,William, son Bill, and many brothers, sisters and cousins.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to The Oaks at Forsyth and Liberty Hospice Care for their compassion and caring staff.
A private family memorial will be held on Friday in Salisbury and her ashes will be taken to California to be to be reunited with her son in their eternal resting place.
