Obituary

Melissa was born on January 20, 1978, to Dudley and Linda Sheppard. She passed away from heart complications on August 21, 2023, at her residence in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Melissa graduated from Southeast Guilford High School and from Kings College where she studied to be a medical assistant. Melissa has worked in different pharmacies and most recently worked in the delivery service business.

Melissa’s greatest loves, besides her Mom and Dad, were bowling and her canine “babies”. Melissa also loved the time she got to spend at Carolina Beach.

Melissa was predeceased by her Mom and Dad, grandparents Claude and Annie Sheppard and Walter and Mildred Willard.

Melissa is survived by her uncles, Jerry Sheppard and wife Brenda, Taylor Sheppard and wife Susan, and Ricky Willard and wife Carol. She is also survived by cousins Kay Mehan and family, Tim Sheppard, Brian Willard and family, Andrew Sheppard and family, and Benjamin Sheppard and family.

At Melissa’s request she will be cremated and her remains will be scattered at a place very special to her.

There will be a short memorial service for family and friends held at Guilford Memorial Park, East Drive and first right turn, on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at 2 pm.
