Mr. Michael Anthony Shelton, 77, received his wings on August 11, 2023, at his residence after a short battle with cancer with his family by his side.
Michael was a native of Greensboro, NC. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and gave back to the community by volunteering his time as a soccer and basketball coach. If he wasn’t on the field coaching, you could find him watching his favorite Redskins playing football or his Braves playing baseball.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Cathy Nichols Shelton, father, mother, Gladys Parker, and brother, Gary Shelton.
Surviving are his children, Mary Shelton Carder, and husband Ken Carder of Stokesdale; Paula Shelton Westlake of Greensboro; Grandchildren, Nicolas Shelton and fiancé Grace Kaiser, Kevin Westlake and fiancé Jodie McKee, Taylor Westlake, and partner Conor Darrow. Brothers-in-law, Paul Nichols and wife Linda Nichols of VA and Carmen Nichols of IL; his loving animal companions, Bella, and Gerald.
The family will have a celebration of life at another time with family and friends.
