Obituary

ASHEBORO – In loving memory of Nicholas Edmund Ornelas. Born December 18, 1957, in Miami, Florida, he ascended to Heaven Monday, September 15, 2014.

Nick was as generous and loyal of a man as he was intelligent.  He loved to laugh and always made sure his family was taken care of no matter what.  Although he never thought he would live a long life, he filled his life with love to his wife Vanessa L. Crull, and nine children:  Jennifer Crook, Nicholas Ornelas, Vince Ornelas, Ralph Ornelas, Christina White, Catherine Buchanan, Andrea Siver, Victoria Ornelas and Michael Ornelas, as well as seven grandchildren.  He was most proud of his children of whom most were active duty in the United States Coast Guard and United States Navy.  He is also survived by his father, Mario Ornelas, and three brothers.

Family always came first to Nick, and he lives on in a legacy of love.

    Alex and Kelly Ornelas says:
Vanessa and Family, we love you so very much and just pray that time and love for one another and the Grace Of God will heal your broken hearts.  Nick is in his Mom's loving arms, she is letting him know everything is fine.  He was a lot like and even resembles his Mom, (Kiki) except the temper part, we know where that comes from.  He would give and help his family no matter what, which showed great character, Jesus will be pleased.  Rest In peace Nick, you will be missed and it was nice knowing you and thanks for such a beautiful family you have shared with us. Ornelas Family Love One Another and Remember to Forgive, life is just to short.   We Love You Always,  Alex and Kelly Ornelas and Family

Dear Venessa and family, I am so so sorry for your loss.   I so often think of the times we shared and laugh.  Your dad took us on some fun short trips.  Sitting on the swans. Line dancing at Joe's Crab Shack.  I am glad I was a part of your family for a short while.  I love you all so much and I am so sorry .  Just know I am thinking of you and praying for strength . Xoxo

Vanessa and family,     I am so sorry for your loss. I was quite taken aback when I heard this. I always enjoyed our talks when I used to deliver your mail. Your care and concern after the loss of my husband was touching. Please let me know if I can help!

    the Crooks says:
Anne Sexton, American poet It doesn't matter who my father was; it matters who I remember he was. I know he didn't think he would live as long as he did, but even the short time we had him, we thought it would be forever. My father made a lot of mistakes but, boy, he did a lot of things right. Looking at the lives he touched (and most of them had no idea of his influence or assistance - that's how he preferred to help), it's clear that his life was full of purpose and his love will continue to live long after he has left us in this world. I choose to be thankful for every moment we had and I know that I will see him again. I love you Dad!
