February 4, 1942 ~ April 27, 2023 (age 81)

Obituary

Priscilla Kay Lipe, age 81, passed away on April 27, 2023. She was born on February 4, 1942, in Rowan County, North Carolina, to Herman Foard Lipe and Opal Rubenia Harrington Lipe. She was the beloved mother of Cheryl Haworth Wyrick and Richard Carlisle Haworth Jr.

Priscilla spent her childhood days splashing through creeks, climbing trees, building forts, romping through forests, and riding bikes around her neighborhood in Landis, N.C. As an adult, she had many passions and interests, including cooking, gardening, spending time with her cats, and watching her grandchildren's performances and sporting events. She was an avid reader who enjoyed getting lost in a good book. She held a deep appreciation for the beauty and wonder of nature and loved to visit the mountains and beaches of North Carolina.

Priscilla earned both her Bachelors's and Masters's degrees from Appalachian State University. She began her 34-year career at Elon University as an English teacher and finished in Academic Advising as the Disability Services Coordinator. Priscilla will be remembered for her dedication to her work and caring approach to students.

She will be dearly missed as the kind, thoughtful, grateful, inquisitive, playful, and generous soul that she was. She is survived by her former husband Richard Haworth, and their children Cheryl (m. David Wyrick) and Carlisle (m. Judy Lee), as well as her younger brother Herman Doyle Lipe. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Katherine, Caroline, Elizabeth Wyrick, and Murray and Mazie Haworth.

Arrangements entrusted to Triad Cremation & Funeral Service.

I can hear Priscilla's kindly voice and picture her beautiful smile. Working with Priscilla was a delight. She was a dedicated, thoughtful, and sincere person. I was stunned and sad to learn of her passing. She will always have a spot in my heart.

It was such a treat to know Priscilla during our years at Elon. What a splendid obituary tribute, so matching the person I knew. Warm regards to her children, from whom my daughter "inherited" a baby bed. Such good memories.
