Obituary

Rebecca La-Dawn Sloop Elks, 41, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014. Rebecca was the daughter of Sharon Sloop Lawson of St. Augustine, Florida and the late Charlie Wayne Sloop of Concord, North Carolina. She leaves to cherish her memories her children Taylor Elizabeth Elks and Matthew Gregory Elks of Bennett, North Carolina; two sisters Angela Gatewood of St. Augustine, Florida and Candace Russell of Salisbury, North Carolina; her great uncle Mark Basham and a host of other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Triad Cremation Society & Chapel, 2110 Veasley St. Greensboro, NC 27407.

Becky called me the day she had the diagnosis. We cried together and then laughed about the lighter side of things. We continued talking numerous times when she needed a laugh and found herself calling me for stress relief for escape from reality. I ignored reality and treated all conversations to her wishes of fun and joking around and had many many laughter filled conversations. She appreciated that and told me so the last time she was able to. She is deeply missed and loved by Patricks family regardless.....
