Obituary

Richard Ashley Talton, age 61, of Greensboro passed away May 25, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born September 17, 1961 in Guilford County, North Carolina the son of the late Carl Ray Talton and Rebecca Ann Staley Talton. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Fox and brother, Daniel Talton.

Richard was lovingly referred to by the nickname “Unk” by his beloved nieces and nephews. He enjoyed the beach and fishing, always at home in the great outdoors. He was known to also enjoy nature’s medicine.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Jerri Higgins and husband (Ricky); brother, Eddie Fox and wife Pam; best friend, Douglas Minor; half-sister, Debbie Freseman; half brother, Neal Bolin; canine companion, Tuffy; uncle, Robert Staley (Alice); aunts, Julia Sharpe (Phillip), Ruth Underhill (George) and Deborah Dickerson (Sherry); and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.

    Richard did work for me for a few years and was the best I had ever worked with. He did some work on a family mountain home and Ill remember him always because some of the work made a huge difference for us at this home. I reached out to Richard about a month ago asking if he would like to go spend a few days at the mountain house but that didnt happen. Rest in peace.
