Richard Mark Cruthis went to his heavenly home on August 13, 2023, at age 62. He was born
on March 26, 1961, to Joesph Riley Cruthis and Annie Ruth Wood Cruthis in Guilford County,
North Carolina. He was known by most he met as Mark. He received his high school diploma
from Southeast Guilford High School.
After struggling with alcoholism most of his life Mark entered recovery for the final and lasting
time in September of 2017. He sought recovery and strength through Christ with the loving
help and support of Naaman’s Recovery Village in High Point, North Carolina. During his
journey there he met so many wonderful people who encouraged him, taught him, and loved
him always. Mark enjoyed attending services at Hope Baptist Church in Sophia, North Carolina
and many other churches in the area. Through this journey he was also able to rebuild his
relationship with God, his children, grandchildren and family.
Mark enjoyed reading the Bible, participating in Bible studies, spending time with his children
and four grandchildren, serving others through Naaman’s Recovery programs and thrift store.
Mark also loved to drive around in his truck to pass the time and see old friends and family.
Mark is preceded in death by his father Joesph Riley Cruthis and his mother Annie Ruth Wood
Cruthis Britt.
He is survived by Daughter Lacey Moore (Robby Moore-son in law), Son Joesph Cruthis (Amy
Cruthis-daughter in law), Stepdaughter Frankie Osborn, Grandchildren Lukus Cruthis, Oliver
Cruthis, Seely Cruthis and Emilia Moore, Siblings Bonita Johnson (Jonny Johnson-brother in
law) and David Cruthis (Anne Cruthis-sister in law), Nephew Adam Cruthis, and Nieces Sarah
Underwood and Jessica Johnson. Mark is also survived by his first wife Kimberly Cruthis
(Mother to Lacey) and second wife Donna East.
The family would like to extend gratitude to all who impacted Mark’s life and all who kept him
in prayer over the years. Special thanks to Steve McSwain, Rick Lewis, Edward Bradley, and
Kenney Greenway- all men Mark considered friends, mentors, and spiritual guides in his life.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 26, 2023, at Hope Baptist Church at 4872
Old Edgar Road in Sophia, North Carolina. A short, informal visitation will begin at 1pm
followed by the memorial service at 2pm.
