Richard “Roger” Brantley, born in Mecklenburg County on March 18, 1953, peacefully passed away on September 1, 2023, in Siler City. He was 70 years old at the time of his passing.
Roger’s biggest passion in life was always music. He possessed immense talent as a pianist and singer, captivating audiences with his melodious voice and skillful piano playing. Throughout his life, he had the opportunity to lend his voice to the iconic character of the Tin Man at NC’s Land of Oz, leaving a lasting impression on those who witnessed his performance. He was known for singing at many churches including Surgaw Creek Presbyterian Church where many knew him. Additionally, he worked as a DJ for radio station WAME in Charlotte, further showcasing his love for music and his ability to connect with others through it.
Roger will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his beloved Mother Mary Elizabeth (Larson) Brantley, Father Robert Winslow Brantley JR, and his first wife, Marilyn Ann Brantley, who was the mother of their children: Joshua David Brantley(Candice), Timothy Aaron Brantley(Jennifer), Leah Christine Brantley and step-daughter Elizabeth Singleton Demofonte(Jeff). Roger also leaves behind eleven cherished grandchildren and his wife, Trina (Herbold) Brantley.
