Roberta Edl Cox Mandrano

Roberta Edl Cox Mandrano of Greensboro passed away peacefully on December 3, 2013, following a brief stay at Heartland Living & Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 15, 1928 in Lawton, OK to the late George S. Cox and Teresa E. Cox. Edl graduated from Geronimo High School. She was a volunteer for the USO at nearby Fort Sill where
she met her future husband Angelo "Kayo" Mandrano who was stationed there at the time. After the wedding they moved to New Rochelle, NY, and then later relocating to Greensboro, NC where they raised a family. She is survived by her sons John Mandrano of Greensboro and Mark Mandrano and wife Sharon of Charlotte, as well as grandchildren, Art, Tressa, Gabrielle, and Nicholas Mandrano. In addition she is survived by siblings George L. Cox and wife Jane of
Newcastle, OK, Jay Cox and wife Rosemary of Lawton, OK, and Nancy Day of Denison, TX. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Mandrano; brother, Wayne Cox; and dear friends Bidaya "Tim" Thimaya, and Jeannine Lombardo, who died December 3, 2012. In addition to being a Mother and homemaker, Edl was a realtor in Greensboro and later followed her passion for health and nutrition by opening a retail health store under the name of Food for Thought. Edl was a veracious reader with interest in many subjects. In addition, Edl enjoyed gardening in her
yard. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff that cared for her at Heartland and our appreciation goes out to the healthcare providers at Pace of the Triad. A special appreciation goes out to her next door neighbor Eric and his wife Anna, who along with the care providers at Pace and CNA Carolyn Dorsey, made it possible for our mother to continue to live in her beloved home. A celebration of life gathering for friends and family is
