Rodney Ortiz

January 11, 1968 ~ August 9, 2023 (age 55)

Rodney Ortiz, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 9, 2023, at the age of 55. Born on January 11, 1968, Rodney’s time with us was filled with love, dedication, and cherished moments.

Rodney grew up in Spanish Harlem and was the youngest of four siblings; Ralph, Diana, Tony and his twin brother Robert.  Rodney graduated from Julia Richmond High School in 1987.  He had a huge passion for sports and was a die-hard NY Yankee fan.

United in marriage to Ayesha Maldonado on November 14, 2000, in New York, NY, Rodney devoted over two decades to a loving and fulfilling partnership. Together, they built a life centered around family values and unwavering support for each other.

Rodney was a devoted father to his children, Brianna, Carlito, and Tre’, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. His unconditional love and guidance shaped them into the remarkable individuals they are today. Rodney also has two grandchildren, Sire and Nova.

In addition to his immediate family, Rodney had a special bond with his siblings, Twin Robert, Tony, Ralph, and Diana. They shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and support. Rodney’s warm heart extended beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of numerous relatives and close friends who held a special place in his heart.

Rodney had the heart of gold and to some he was considered a “King.” He was the most loving, compassionate and carefree person and had a huge impact on those around him.  To know him, was to love him and he was loved by all.  Family was everything to Rodney and it was his number one priority.  He poured every ounce of himself into being the best husband and father to his three children, who are and always will be his pride and joy.

Rodney’s legacy lies not only in the relationships he nurtured but also in the love and kindness he showed to everyone he encountered. His compassionate spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rodney left us far too soon.  Although he was sick, he never lost his sense of humor.  He cracked jokes all the time with his children and played with his grandson, the best way he could.  He had a great ability to make others laugh, smile and his sense of humor will be greatly missed.

As we mourn Rodney’s untimely departure, let us find solace in the cherished memories we hold dear. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace, forever watching over his loved ones from above.
