Obituary

Ruby Jean Howlett, age 81, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away at home on April 13, 2023,  after a hard five-month health battle. Nurtured and cared for by her loving son Jason in her later years,  she was a sweet, loving, selfless mother, wife and friend to all she knew. She adored being a  grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved long walks with Bear and Jason, and also enjoyed the beach as well as the mountains. Ruby appreciated all her travels with family. She adored her dog Bear, who was by her side until the end. Ruby enjoyed shopping trips with her daughters, Starbucks, Elvis  Presley, Lifetime, bingo with her friends, visits with her sister Shirley, her faith in God, and the comfort of her church. When she sang in church the sound was ethereal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Theodore Roosevelt Black and Ollie Vesta Salyers  Black Fuller, her husband Buford Duval Howlett, her dear sister Shirley Ann Black Cleaver, brothers  Matthew, Alfred Shirden, and Carl Randal Black, and her sisters Helen Virginia Black, Oma Erma  Walters, and Catherine Rose Fisher. Ruby is survived by the five children she loved deeply, Glenn  Howlett, Tina Farrington (fiance Nick Ackerman), Jerry Howlett, April Howlett, and Jason Howlett.  She is also survived by grandchildren Telina Batts (husband John Batts), Justin Radford (wife  Samantha), Miciah Worrell, Miara Manley, Preston Sims, Heather Howlett, Chris Howlett and Heidi  Howlett, as well as great-grandchildren including Blake Batts, Ashlynn Batts, Ava and Aria. A  celebration of life will be held at a later date. Ruby was a one-of-a-kind angel in life, and now she is a  real one to watch over the family; if more individuals were like her the world would be a better place.
