Obituary

Samuel Lee Taylor, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on August 29, 2023, in Forsyth County, North Carolina. He was born on October 3, 1947, in Buncombe County, North Carolina. Samuel was 75 years old at the time of his passing.

He retired from BASF, formally American Enka, and was self employed as a machinist thereafter. Sam was an avid Carp fisherman and pool player. He very much enjoyed making people laugh and loved being in the spotlight. He was a very loving father and grandfather. Samuel also had a passion for singing, which brought joy to those around him. One of the things he valued most was time spent with family.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Ule Sr. and Alice Folsten, as well as his grandmother, Kitty Sue Taylor, previous wife, Rene Taylor, previous stepson, RC Crenshaw, and brother, Vincent Folsten. He leaves behind a loving family and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Samuel is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa Taylor, Brothers Joe, Rufus, Ule Jr., and Darnell, daughters, Latisha Pottorff, Sonya Mooney, and Samantha Taylor. His stepchildren Patrick, David, Pamela, Sylvia, Jacqueline, Jamar, and Matthew. He was a proud grandfather to Kevin, Koree, Kamron, D’Andre, Tierra, Bethany, Koby, Adrianna, Sammy, Taylor, and Kian. Samuel also had a close bond with his siblings, Joseph, Rufus, Sheila Flanagan, Lolita Swanson, Ule Folsten Jr., and Darnell Folsten, along with great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks should be given to his wife, Theresa, his Daughter, Samantha and his granddaughter Tierra for all of their time and special care given to him though this long battle.

Services to honor Samuel’s life will be held on Saturday, September 9th, 2023. A visitation will take place at 1 p.m. at Triad Cremation and Funeral Service, followed by a service at 2 p.m. It will be a time to remember and celebrate the remarkable life that Samuel lived, as well as to find solace in the memories shared with him.

Samuel Lee Taylor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind heart, warm smile, and unwavering love for his family will forever be etched in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
