Obituary

Sarah Frances Fields Hinshaw, beloved and cherished by her family and friends, peacefully passed away in her own home, on August 16, 2023, at the age of 86. Born on November 11, 1936, in Guilford County, North Carolina, Sarah was the daughter of Worth and Willard Davis Fields.

Sarah worked many years in the United States Postal Service, where she served with diligence and commitment. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sarah’s true passion lay in helping others. She found great joy in preparing meals for those in need and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed. Her unwavering dedication and selflessness were admired by all who knew her.

Sarah was a faithful member of Bethlehem Methodist Church and actively participated in various community organizations, including Red Cross Civitan Club and Meals on Wheels. She and her husband lovingly raised their children in the Red Cross community. Sarah’s commitment to her faith and her involvement in these organizations were testaments to her benevolent nature and caring heart.

In 1955, Sarah graduated from Pleasant Garden High School, following high school she attended college at Appalachian State. She still enjoyed the company and close friendships of her Pleasant Garden classmates.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Worth and Willard Davis Fields, her beloved husband, Ernest Weldon Hinshaw, her sister, Mary Cook, and her brother, Charles W. Fields. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be forever cherished.

Sarah is survived by her devoted children, Weldon Hinshaw (Tami), RW Hinshaw (Sonya), Mike Hinshaw (Michelle), Cindy Hudson (Ray), and Sam Hinshaw. She also leaves behind seven adoring grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews who were touched by her guiding presence.

Sarah Frances will be remembered for being fiercely independent, hardworking, her big-heartedness, selflessness, and unwavering Christian faith. Her legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that her memory will forever be cherished by all whose lives she touched.

There will be a brief Memorial Service and internment for Sarah Frances, on Saturday, at 10 am August 19th, 2023 at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian, NC.

In lieu o. flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Meals on Wheels at 1401 Benjamin Parkway, Greensboro, NC 27408, or to Red Cross Civitan Club at 2514 Bethel Church Road, Pleasant Garden NC 27313
