Obituary

Shirley Felix, 84, of Kernersville, NC went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 at Kernersville Medical Center with her family by her side. Originally from Syracuse, NY where she was born in 1939 to the late John and Ruth Worth (Grice).

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto. Survivors include: her daughter Sandra Brown of PA,  son James Melvin of PA, son Steve Melvin (Michele) of East Syracuse, NY, daughter Nancy Hoag (Dewey) of Kernersville, NC, daughter Carol Malave of Kernersville, NC, and son Robert Malave of Syracuse, NY. Grandchildren include; Danny, Amanda, Vanessa, Steve, Ashley, Kristie, Sean, Martina, Daniel Jacob. Great Grandchildren; Gabe, Ben, Shepherd, Elaine, Ziggie, Stevie, Waylon and LunaMae as well as Sisters, brother, and nephews.

Shirley retired from Syracuse University after 20 years of service. She loved to cook for everyone, she loved her family and friends and spending time with everyone and talking about Jesus. Her passion was to help all that she could.

In lieu of a service we will be having a celebration of Shirley’s life on Saturday August 5th.

    I was the Part time babysitter for Stevie, Nancy, and Carole during the late 1960s when they lived bear Frazier Park. I visited Robbie the day after Shirley and Roberto brought him home. Shirley was a great mom and homemaker. homemaker.homemaker. I have fond memories of those early days when I was still in high school. I grew up with one of Shirley’s closers friends, Lorraine Southworth, she was Lorraine Mott growing up and her aunts were two of my moms good friends back then.
