Obituary

Sylvia Peebles Artis, was born on April 7, 1952, to the union of Ester Lee Battle and Willie Miles Peebles in Jackson, North Carolina.

Sylvia received her formal education at Gumberry High School in Northampton, North Carolina..  Sylvia accepted Christ at an early age, and was united with New Hope Baptist Church.

Sylvia Peebles was united in holy matrimony with Earl Artis on January 11, 1969, in Greensboro, North Carolina.  Their union was blessed with three  beautiful children.  

Sylvia  was employed by Shipman Family Home Care as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 20 years.   In her leisure she enjoyed shopping, cooking, and loved spending time with her family.  Most of all, she   enjoyed sharing good laughter.

Sylvia  Peebles Artis departed this life on February 13, 2014.  She was preceded in death by her father Willie Miles Peebles, her sister    Pyshiclla Peebles, and her brother Morris Peebles. 

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Earl Artis, Sr., two sons Earl Artis, Jr., and Avery Artis; one daughter Angela Artist, mother Esther Lee Battle, four sisters Margaret White, Shirley Ann Jordan (Lloyd), Carol Stewart (Chester) and Denise Peebles; two   brothers Don Michael Peebles and Maurice Peebles (Kalyn); and other relatives and friends.
