Obituary

Thelma Joyce Elliott, age 51, passed away Wednesday evening, June 4, 2014 at the Hospice Home of High Point.

She was born on December 12, 1962 in Guilford County. She is the daughter of Ms. Lorie Cole and the late Mr. Clyde Elliott. She resided in Lexington, NC and attended the Archdale and Trinity schools. Her biggest and most meaningful achievement in life was raising her beautiful daughter Samantha Ann Elliott of Trinity, who lovingly took care of her mother until the end. Joyce loved country music, cats, and loved to laugh and cut up. She was of the Baptist faith and is fondly remembered praying for her family during her time at Hospice.

Surviving in addition to her mother and her daughter Samantha, are one brother Auby Elliott of Thomasville, four sisters: Ms. Sherrie Billings of Thomasville, Mrs. Lorie Rabon and husband Chris of Trinity, Mrs. Edith Grimmett of Thomasville, and Ms. Robin Mesimer of Trinity. She is also survived by one nephew Christopher Rabon and wife Linda, four nieces: Kellee Rabon, Ashley Billings, Molly Grimmett, and Summer Whitley. She has one great-niece Madison Spears and one great-nephew Kaden Rabon. Special friends of the family, Dwight Leonard, Jeanette Cochrane, and James Brewer.

She was preceded in death by another dear sister Rushie Ann Slusher.

Family and friends will be gathering at the home of sister Lorie Rabon Sunday, June 8th 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at 6811 Country Meadows Lane, Trinity, NC. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 9th 2:30 pm at The Potter House, 4943 Jordan Valley Road, Trinity, NC.

The family would like to express with all our hearts our gratitude for the loving care that was given to Joyce at Hospice in High Point. The doctors and nurses there are angels in our hearts. Appreciation is also given to the churches and the communities for their charitably acts of love and kindness in providing meals for the patients and their loved ones there. We are also forever grateful to everyone for their compassionate support and prayers for Joyce.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont.

May those of you family members be comforted and may you come to have peace through the hope of the resurrection. I hope that you will find peace as time unfolds. (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29; John 11:25,26)

    Linda Myers says:
Lorie, I found a poem I thought you and your family would like. Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call I turned by back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I found that place at the close of the day. If my passing has left a void Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me GOD wanted me now, He set me free.

    George Mason says:
May each of you family members receive comfort from the pages of the Bible that hold forth the promise of the resurrection of the dead. What a wonderful prospect we have to look forward to, the sure promise that we will receive our dead loved ones back from the Grave. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort,  who comfortsm us in all our tribulation that we may be able to comfort those in any sort of tribulation through the comfort with which we ourselves are being comforted by God." (2Corinthians 1:3,4; John 5:28,29; Revelation 21:3,4)
