Trevor James Hawkins

October 13, 1989 ~ February 27, 2015 (age 25)

GREENSBORO  – TREVOR JAMES HAWKINS, 25, OF Greensboro, suddenly passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015. He was the oldest child of Bob and Terri Hawkins, who greatly mourn his loss, along with his three siblings, David, Katie and Rachel Hawkins, extended family, grandparents Joe and Arlene Adams (of Rockland, ME), aunts, uncles, cousins (from OH, IN, ME, MA, NY, FL and MD), his girlfriend, Anna Wurz, and dear friends from schools, church, work and hobbies. He graduated from NCSU in May 2014 with a degree in physics, and had planned to pursue his doctorate. We are thankful to the many people who invested in his life through ministries at Westover Church, in the local homeschool community, NHA charter school, Caldwell Academy, Northwest High School, Lawndale Swim & Tennis, the GCY swim team, and later, in Raleigh, club swimming, musical pursuits and various jobs, including his most recent employment for the past few years in Greensboro at All-Star Chem Dry.

Trevor had a brilliant mind, a big heart, and a wonderful work ethic. He had a quick recall and understanding of a wealth of things that he seemed to memorize easily: Bible verses, complex ideas, movie lines, and anything in his voracious reading appetite. From happy messes in the kitchen to advanced culinary skills, he loved to cook with his mom. He cared deeply for his younger siblings, protecting and helping them in any way he could, from teaching David how to build Legos, reading to Katie and Rachel and buying gifts for his siblings out of whatever he had to share. He worked with all of his heart at everything he put his mind to: working with his dad's perpetual DIY and landscaping projects, competitive swimming, and later coaching to share his knowledge and skills as well as his exemplary work while completing his college degree. Trevor's memorial service will be at Westover Church, 505 Muirs Chapel Road in Greensboro at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, with visitation immediately following the service. His family and girlfriend appreciate the outpouring of prayers and love from all of his family and friends near and far.
