Wanda Hedrick
December 31, 1948 ~ July 17, 2023 (age 74)Obituary
On Monday July 17th, Wanda Reeves Hedrick, age 74 of High Point, received her angel wings and peacefully went to be with her lord and savior. A loving wife, mother and sister she was the rock foundation of her close knit family. She had been in declining health for the last three years and was such a strong brave soul and took on cancer head to head until the very end. As a God fearing woman, her strength and faith during this time frame was remarkable to witness and we can only hope to continue with the same courage and will power that she woke up with every day.
Wanda was born in High Point, NC on December 31, 1948 to her late mother and father Dalton and Maude Reeves. She grew up in High Point and graduated from High Point Central High School in 1966 and went on to obtain her cosmetology degree from Artistic Beauty College. Wanda was married to the love of her life, Wayne on June 28th, 1968. They just recently surpassed 55 wonderful years together. During this time they raised two boys, Jerry Hedrick of High Point and Mark Hedrick of Thomasville. She gained two loving daughter in laws Tammy and Mandy whom she welcomed into her family and loved as her own daughters. Her whole life was surrounded by her grandchildren with a love for them like no other. Ryan Hedrick of Thomasville and beautiful wife Katie, Macy Hedrick of High Point and Luke, Alyssa and Jessi Hedrick of Thomasville. She is also survived by her lifelong best friend and sister Sandra McQuaigue of Trinity with whom she shared a sisterhood bond that could never be broken, brothers Bobby Gibson and wife Barbara of Thomasville and Jimmy Redmon of High Point. A place in her heart was also reserved for her loving sister in law and a best friend Patti Johnson and brother in law Randy Hedrick of Archdale and many nieces and nephews. Wanda was also preceded in death by two brothers Billy Gibson and Larry Redmond
Wanda had so many things that she enjoyed in life. She began playing softball at the age of 12 and continued playing through adulthood in which she was a part of several teams that won many local and state championship tournaments. Music and dancing was her thing and she was always blaring her stereo to the tunes of Patsy Cline, Conway Twitty, Vince Gill, Kenny Rogers and many others but no others compared to her love for the King himself Elvis Presley. Many days of each week and every day during the Christmas holiday it was Elvis singing in her kitchen as she cooked and baked away. Going hungry in the Hedrick household was not an option. She also loved to get on the mic and sing karaoke whenever possible and everyone knew that Crazy by Patsy Cline was her go to song. She also had a love for taking many trips each year to the beach and the mountains. She always treasured her time spent on those trips with her loving and dearest friends.
